An example from yesterday's paradisepoker review came when I was dealt As 7s 9c 3c playing in the online poker room. This hand was double-suited but only the spades were of excellent value. The club flush could easily lose. There was a decent low draw but little else of value in A379. However, in my game of full paradisepoker table low stakes poker, I deemed this worthy of a moderate pre-flop raise to boost the pot in case I saw a good flop. Pre-flop re-raises were as rare as dragon's eggs in this paradisepoker game so I was confident of seeing a cheap flop. With five callers, the flop came down Js 7d 4s. My nut flush draw was on at a low cost of 3 x the big blind, with a shout for a low draw. The low pot draw implied action would be forthcoming.
Nowack is a poker champion, and the tournament in question was a No-Limit Texas Hold 'em competition at the ParadisePoker room. Since he'd won the last tournament the sponsoring company had hosted, the rules promised a special prize to whichever player could take responsibility for eliminating him. But if Nowack played his paradisepoker cards right, no one would walk away with that bounty. Poker wasn't Nowack's first game. It wasn't even the first game he went to Las Vegas to play.
Not only is this New Zealand's only nationwide paradisepoker review with the richest prize pool, it is one of only a few competitions in the world with a seat at the World Series up for grabs. We knew this would attract some of the best online poker players in the world but to have the world's reigning champ in town for the event is absolutely huge news. Joe Hachem says he is looking forward to coming to Christchurch. "I just love New Zealand, it's such a picturesque country. I am looking forward to visiting New Zealand's Garden City, seeing the sights and seeing what Kiwi poker players are made of," he says.
While I totally understand and respect this paradisepoker strategy, I believe that in certain situations, it can be advantageous to show opponents your cards. When you watch me play poker on television, notice that I often show my hand. Of course, I'm not doing this randomly. My reasoning is calculated and designed to give me an edge that I can exploit later in the paradisepoker game. Think of it like this: I'm planting seeds that I can harvest later. You might consider doing a little poker gardening yourself. It wasn't some bizarre reality show. Nobody was literally after his head - they just wanted his paradisepoker money.
